In order for my film trailer to be recognized as a horror film trailer by my target audience, I have ensure to follow particular conventions which apply to this genre of film trailers. My product closely follows the conventions of real media products in many ways. I believe my trailer, poster and magazine cover all closely conform to a strict set of norms found within the horror genre. These conventions include the use of a dark colour scheme, often the colours black and red which are heavy signifies of blood, death and danger. A element commonly found within the horror genre is how they want the audience to be able to feel like what is happening is safe and no different from there normal day to day life. Once this has been accomplished, the audience will be able to connect with the film, and in conclusion to this, the audience will feel more frightened when the real horror kicks in. The way I have followed conventions of the horror genre is quite general. The fonts I have used are all conforming to the genre, but I have more specifically followed the codes and conventions of the slasher horror sub genre. These conventions are more specific, such as the use of a masked antagonist. A group of young people placed in danger, and the frequent representation of blood, gore and violence.
