My Logo First Attempt

This above is my first attempt at creating a logo for my company. Since it was on photoshop I found the task really difficult. No matter how long I could spend on improving my skills on photoshop, they really would never develop. So this is a very basic go at a logo. The 'H & H' stand for Hegarty and Hegarty production company, and the other shapes that are part of my logo do not mean anything, they are simply there to look good for presentation.

Time Management - First Update

When I was first told what had to be done by October half term, I will not lie I rather panicked and thought to myself that I will not have enough time/mentally that I am capable of doing so many posts and tasks in such a short amount of time.

Yet it has been a week and I have done rather a lot and I am not as worried as I previously was. In conclusion I truly believe I will get everything that I need done by the deadline, 24th of October.

Film Trailer Deconstruction 2

Since my first horror trailer deconstruction was more of a murder thriller sub genre, I have chosen to more of a paranormal horror, to broaden my horizons you could say, mix things up. I have also chosen to do a more modern horror. This is brand new, not even released yet compared to The Strangers, which was released in 2008. This trailer seems to be all surrounded around this doll, even though what I have presumed from the trailer that actually she is just a front for the real danger, which is the female in white that we see several time throughout the trailer.

This horror trailer, like all other horror trailers that I am looking at, shows the genre through many forms, the ones I will be looking at are the pace of the shots (Camerawork), how the sound effects the audience, the costume of the characters and the lighting on the set.

The costume of the characters are very old fashioned, from the costume of the characters and the interior of the household I can presume that this film is set in the last century. I have came to this conclusion as the costume is not modern, for example after the establishing shot, we see a mid shot of the couple in bed and the fact they are both wearing full set of loungewear, even though there is a possibility that I am over thinking it. But it could be set in a earlier time as they are wearing nightwear. In a modern film you would not see a couple of there age wearing nightwear, you could say it is something of the past.

When the film is inside a building, there is a lot of low key lighting, yet when there are shots of outside buildings is it high key lighting. You could say that this is a metaphor for where all the danger happens. When they are in the house there is a lot of bright colors surrounding Annabelle, this could also been seen as an oxymoron as all the danger happens when she is near, surrounding her. Majority of the light within the houses are ambient lighting from the sources such as lamps and roof lights. In my film trailer this is something I am looking into replicating.

As the same as The Strangers the pace of the shots are very similar, very upbeat and fast. The reason that they have done this is that it keeps the audience on the edge and wanting to see what happens next.

The scene where the camera closes up on Annabelle's face, then what we can presume she is doing since there is a demon inside of her, firstly shutting the door then turning the radio and record player on, this starts off as diegetic sound, then transforms into non diegetic sound. This is something that I want to replicate in my horror trailer. The lion share of the non diegetic sound is one that sounds like it is from a orchestra. This gives the audience a soft feeling, a feeling that everything is going to be okay, yet we all know it is not, a false sense of hope.
